Lacona and the beach

Located south of the island, Lacona is a beach of fine golden sand kissed by the sun from the morning to the late evening. The sea here has a sandy bottom and the depth of the water increases gradually.
The special feature of the beach are the sand dunes which are characterised by native flora and fauna, such as sea lilies, daisies and wild orchids that end in thick shady pine forests. Moreover, the dunes at Lacona are the last still existing dunes of this particular kind in the Tuscan Archipelago and therefore under direct protection of the Natural Park.
The large beach offers both public areas with free entry and those that offer beach umbrellas and sun loungers for a fee. The beach establishments typically also offer bathing facilities and rentals for boats, pedal boats, canoes and various water games. There are also several restaurants with terraces with the sea view.
In addition to the large beach of the Gulf, we mustn’t forget Margidore, which is a pebble beach with crystal clear water and a splendid view of Capoliveri, or Laconella, a small natural sandy beach, which is entirely free for the public. Laconella can also be reached from the Lacona beach by pedal boat or canoe.
Finally, because of its central-southern position on the island, Lacona is an excellent starting point for all the most important attractions of the island. Only a short distance away from our Residence there are several services, such as a mini-market, the bank, bars, the pharmacy as well as the chapel of the Madonna della Neve.
